In December 2018, my UF Graphic Design colleague Maria Rogal and I developed and led a design workshop with over 30 entrepreneurs, mostly women, in Mexico City. This wonderful collaboration with the Incubadora FUMEC de Alto Impacto team allowed us to share with the entrepreneurs how design, local cultures, and personal stories can help shape products for national and international markets, as well as how to develop genuine visual languages while building and maintaining good design practices. We provided new knowledge and robust feedback for them to continue expanding their products and to continue providing unique costumer experiences that reflect their voices and help them thrive. We learned enormously from their experiences and concerns about design processes and equity, while absorbing new information about their background and communities.
